Mission

PCBR strives to break the cycle of disability and poverty and empower PWDs and  local leaders to foster the development of inclusive, accessible and healthy communities. PCBR engages in a diverse range of activities that focus on promoting sustainable, appropriate and inclusive systemic change.

PCBR’s activities focus on promoting social inclusion and empowerment, improving health and education outcomes, and generating sustainable and increased livelihoods.

Values

PCBR works to achieve its objectives, while promoting the following core values:

  1. Accountability and Transparency: PCBR programs are designed in open consultation with our partners and our primary stakeholders; the PWDs that the program aims to serve.
  2. Addressing Root Causes: PCBR programs focus not only on supporting PWDs, but employ a holistic prevention strategy which includes widespread education and empowerment programs. PCBR focuses on mainstreaming disability issues and tackling discriminatory or exclusionary behaviors embedded in society that contribute to the marginalization of PWDs in the communities we serve.
  3. Collaboration: PCBR recognizes the importance of working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders to develop programs that are innovative, creative and impactful. PCBR cultivates partnerships in the areas we serve, in communities around Ghana, and with international partners. PCBR invests in developing the communities we serve, and the staff that implements our programs.
  4. Respect: PCBR’s activities are founded on a deep commitment to promoting respect and preserving dignity for all project stakeholders.
  5.  Advocacy: PCBR uses its position of influence in society to give a platform and forum for the voices of PWDs throughout its catchment areas. Project staff demonstrate a deep commitment to shaping the popular discourse relating to disability issues.
